May 15-27, 2024 - FAROE ISLANDS & ICELAND

***Faroe Islands Extension May 22-May 27, 2024 - Day 8-12 on itinerary***

Day One
Travel to Iceland on a non-stop flight from Denver. 

Day Two
Downtown Reykjavik. Historical walking tour. This is the perfect time to shop, as well as visit the famous church; Hallgrimskirkja. You will have free time to explore the city as well.

End the night with Iceland's newest hot spring; the Sky Lagoon. Enjoy the hot pools while looking over the ocean and the skyline of Reykjavik.

Day Three
Laugarvatn Bread Demonstration. watch traditional Icelandic Rye bread be made by using geothermal heat. Eat some of the best rye bread while enjoying the views of lake Laugarvatn.

One of the few places in the world where you can see a geysir, the most famous one in Iceland is Haukadalur Geysir. We don't have to wait too long to see the eruption, as it erupts every 4-10 minutes.

Enjoy your first of many waterfalls in Iceland. Gullfoss Waterfall is a massive and stunning waterfall. Enjoy some free time to get all sorts of views of this amazing waterfall.

Enjoy some time walking thru Thingerville National Park, the park where you can walk thru the tectonic plates.

Nauthólsvík Geothermal Beach - a fun local beach that has some great views of the city, but is also a natural hot spring. This is also right next to the restaurants.

Day Four
Learn all about Iceland in a fun way, by visiting the LAVA Museum. Learn about how Iceland was formed and visit hands on exhibts to learn all about the volcanoes of Iceland.

Seljalandafoss, one of the many waterfalls on your trip to Iceland. Walk around and even behind this beautiful waterfall, and even take a short walk to a beautiful waterfall inside of a cave that is nearby.

The last waterfall for today, the massive Skogafoss. You can enjoy the waterfall from below, or take a hike to get to the very top of it.

Day Five
Just a short distance away from Vik is one of the most beautiful canyons you will ever see. Fjarðarárgljúfur Viewpoint, where there is a little walking trail along with viewing platforms to let you see all of the canyon.

Take a beautiful boat ride thru Glacier Lagoon. Get up close with many of the massive glaciers, and if your lucky, get to see some puffins, seals, and other wildlife.

After our glacier tour we can visit Diamond Beach, where little glaciers wash up on the black sand shore. A great place to walk around and explore.

Day Six
Today is a fantastic opportunity to experience some of Iceland's natural beauty and culture. The day begins with a visit at  Solheimajokull Glacier, where you can hike along the trail leading to the glacier. The trail includes a 10-minute viewpoint, with the option to continue further and get closer to the glacier.

After leaving the glacier you will head to Dyrholaey, a peninsula famous for its stunning views of the surrounding coastline. The tour will then continue to Reynisfjara, where you will have free time to explore the unique black sand beach and enjoy lunch.

After departing Reynisfjara,  you will arrive at Vik Church on the hill, offering breathtaking views of the city. Then, you will have the opportunity to visit the Visitors Center and Nautical Museum to learn more about the culture and history of Iceland.

Finally, enjoy a lava show this evening. The show recreates a volcanic eruption by superheating real lava and pouring it into the showroom! LAVA SHOW is the only live lava show in the world, a highly engaging experience that has received multiple awards on entertainment and innovation.

Day Seven
End your Iceland trip at the famous Blue Lagoon. Spend a few hours soaking in the famous blue milky water before we go onto our plane. Welcome home!
**If you are the extension to the Faroe Islands, you will overnight in Iceland.**

Day Eight

Arrive in the Faroe Islands this morning. A sightseeing tour around the picture’s village of Gásadalur with the famous

Múlafossur waterfall. Drive on the mountain road if the weather is clear to the Capital.

Day Nine
Bird sailing tour full day tour, boating from the village of Vestmanna. This is a day tour where you first visit the Vestmanna Seacliff’s and then proceed to the island of Mykines, where you get a good chance of seeing birds like puffins and gannets at a close range.

Day Ten
Travel to the Island of Boroy.Sailing with the ferry Sam from the harbour quay in Klaksvík to the island of Kallsoy. In the
village of Mikladalur is the famous statue of the Seal woman, a hike up to the lighthouse on the viewpoint Kallur. On the path up to Kallur, you can see the gravestone of James Bond, his last movie “No way to die” was filmed here and he died in the movie. It takes about one hour to walk from the road up to the lighthouse.

Also, here you can find a very active kittiwake (bird)colony. From here you have a view over to the Cliff of Enniberg with its 752-meter steep cliff, the highest in Europe.

Day Eleven
Visit the Nordic House. Drive on the mountain road (Oyggjarvegurin) to Saksun, sightseeing in Saksun, drive to the small and remote village of Tjørnuvík, and then drive to the island of Eysturoy up north to the small and picturesque village of Gjógv, restauranr at Gjógv.

Day Twelve
Enjoy a free morning in the Faroe Islands! This afternoon, board your flight back to Iceland.
