Day One & Two 

Welcome to Guatemala! Upon your arrival at "La Aurora" International Airport in Guatemala City, your experienced tour guide and friendly driver will be there to greet you. After a warm welcome, you'll embark on an exciting panoramic tour of Guatemala City to get a glimpse of its rich history and vibrant culture. Your first stops will include the iconic "Palacio Nacional" (National Palace), a historical building that has served as the residence of Guatemala's presidents for decades, and the stunning "Metropolitan Cathedral," an architectural marvel with impressive religious significance. Next, you'll explore the "Centro Cívico" (Civic Center), an essential part of the city's political and administrative life. As the day unfolds, you'll also have the opportunity to pass through various residential zones, witnessing the local way of life.

 

Day Three

Get ready for an early morning adventure as you head to the airport for a domestic flight to Flores, Petén, where the ancient mysteries of the Mayan World await. Your destination is Tikal, an awe-inspiring archaeological site that holds immense historical importance. Upon arrival in Flores, you'll be enchanted by the beauty of the surrounding landscapes. At Tikal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, your knowledgeable guide will lead you through a fascinating journey back in time. Discover the towering Temples I and II, which provide mesmerizing views from their summits. Explore the Central Acropolis, a remarkable complex of palaces and administrative buildings, and the enigmatic Lost World area, filled with mysteries yet to be fully unraveled. After a fulfilling morning of exploration, you'll savor a delicious lunch at the visitor's center, taking in the breathtaking scenery around you. The day will conclude with a transfer to the charming town of Flores, where you can unwind and reflect on the wonders you've witnessed.

 

Day Four

As the sun rises on another adventurous day, you'll enjoy a hearty breakfast before embarking on a transfer to the archaeological site of Yaxhá. Nestled amidst the lush Petén rainforest, Yaxhá was once a grand ceremonial center of the ancient Maya civilization. With your guide by your side, you'll delve into the secrets of this historical gem. Marvel at the impressive twin pyramid complex, where ancient rituals and ceremonies were once held. Stroll through the Stelae Plaza, adorned with stone monuments bearing intricate inscriptions, providing insights into Maya history and culture. While exploring Yaxhá's remarkable structures and plazas, you'll also be enchanted by the rich wildlife and captivating sounds of the jungle. After a day full of discoveries, you'll return to Guatemala City and then continue your journey to the enchanting colonial city of Antigua.

 

Day Five

Today's adventure takes you to the heart of the Mayan Highlands, where you'll experience the vibrant and bustling atmosphere of Chichicastenango's Market. The air will be filled with the vibrant colors of traditional clothing and handicrafts as local vendors proudly display their goods. You'll have the chance to immerse yourself in this lively marketplace, interacting with friendly locals, and exploring the array of unique products on offer. Amidst the market bustle, you'll visit the historic Church of Santo Tomas, a testament to the fascinating blend of Maya and Catholic traditions in the region. Afterward, your journey continues to the captivating shores of Lake Atitlan, one of the world's most beautiful lakes, surrounded by towering volcanoes. A scenic lunch by the lake will provide the perfect backdrop for relaxation and contemplation. Later, you'll visit the lively Santander Street in Panajachel, offering an array of local crafts and souvenirs, before returning to the enchanting colonial city of Antigua Guatemala.

 

Day Six

After a delightful breakfast, get ready to immerse yourself in the colonial charm and architectural splendor of Antigua Guatemala. Your exploration of this UNESCO World Heritage-listed city will take you to the heart of its historical center. Wander around the "Plaza Central," the central square where locals and visitors gather, surrounded by stunning colonial-era buildings. As you enter "The Cathedral," an impressive example of Baroque-style architecture, you'll be in awe of its ornate interiors and religious significance. The journey continues to "San Francisco Church," an iconic landmark boasting exquisite religious artwork and a serene courtyard. The "La Merced" convent, with its impressive yellow façade, awaits your discovery, showcasing colonial and Mudejar architectural influences. Stroll down the charming "Calle del Arco," a cobblestone street lined with colorful buildings, leading to the iconic Santa Catalina Arch. Day Seven

Be part of a Guatemalan cooking class. Your expert chef will start by teaching you about the Spanish and Mayan cultural influences on Guatemalan flavors. Learn about the staple ingredients and foods used by natives, including corn, peppers and beans. For your own meal, you’ll get to prepare one main dish, one side dish and one dessert. As you create your meal, the chef will be there to offer helpful guidance. Once you’re done, it’s time to enjoy your home-cooked lunch! Afterwards transfer to Guatemala City.

 

Day Eight

As your journey comes to an end, you'll have a convenient transfer to the airport for your international flight back home. With memories of Guatemala's rich history, stunning landscapes, and warm hospitality, you'll depart with a heart full of cherished experiences and a newfound appreciation for this captivating country.
