ITINERARY

Day One
Depart from Salt Lake City (or your home city) this morning and arrive in Philadelphia this afternoon. On our way to our hotel, we will see our first glimpse of this historical city as we tie in the freedoms that made the Restoration of the Gospel possible. Spend the night in Philadelphia at the Holiday Inn Penns Landing. After dinner Alan will take you on a short walk to see some of the historical sites at night.

Day Two
Early this morning we depart for our exciting tour of Philadelphia. We will see the gravesite of Benjamin Franklin, the first bank of the United States, Carpenter’s Hall and the Liberty Bell. After lunch we visit Independence Hall, the Betsy Ross home and of course run the steps with Rocky Balboa! Overnight again at the Holiday Inn Penns Landing. (B)

Day Three
This morning visit the open house of the Philadelphia LDS Temple.

Announced in 2008 by President Monson, this temple is right in downtown Philadelphia. What a blessing for this historical city! After our visit and a lunch stop we will visit Valley Forge and review the miracles of transforming a small colonial Army into the force that would win INDEPENDENCE! Overnight in Allentown, PA at the Holiday Inn Express. (B)

Day Four
This morning we depart for Palmyra, NY. Enroute we will visit the newly dedicated visitor site of Harmony, PA, the site of the restoration of the Aaronic Priesthood. Here we will overview the wonderful blessing of having the Priesthood restored to the earth! Then on to the Peter Whitmer farm where the Church was organized on April 6th, 1830. Spend the next two nights at the Palmyra Inn and Suites (B,D)

Day Five
Begin your day in the cradle of the Restoration. Early this morning start your Sabbath morning in the Sacred Grove and reflect on the special event of the heavens being opened and the first vision occurring
during the spring of 1820. Next we will visit the restored Joseph Smith, Sr. home and farm including the restored log cabin. We will see the Grandin Printing Complex where the first Book of Mormon was printed. Then we will visit the Hill Cumorah and the Visitor’s Center. Nearby have a beautiful photo opportunity of the Palmyra Temple. (B)

Day Six
Depart the Palmyra area with a historic stop in nearby Mendon, NY. Here Samuel Smith began his mission by sharing the Book of Mormon. That missionary effort brought into the gospel greats like Brigham Young and Heber C. Kimball. Next we continue our journey to Niagara Falls, the oldest statepark in the USA. Here you will enjoy an optional experience of a lifetime, a boat ride on the Maid of the Mist to get as close to the waterfall as possible. We then continue our journey to Kirtland, Ohio. Overnight in Kirtland. (B)

Day Seven
This morning we visit the Kirtland Temple. The cost of the Kirtland Temple is estimated at about $40,000 which was a staggering sum for the 1830’s. Relative to the meager resources of the Saints at the time, the Kirtland Temple is probably the most costly temple ever constructed by the Church. After lunch we will see the Temple Quarry, Whitney Store, the new Ashery, Sawmill, and the Visitor’s Center. (B)

Day Eight
We depart this morning for Hiram, Ohio to visit the John Johnson Farm. It was at the John Johnson Farm that Joseph Smith received the vision of the three degrees of glory. Before our flight home we will see places of interest in Cleveland, Ohio. Late afternoon flight to Salt Lake City or your home city. (B)
